Hyster was founded in the USA in 1929, and developed the first forklift for heavy loads in 1934, with an impressive load capacity for the time at 2.7t. They began selling their products internationally in the 1940s, and developed the first container stacker in the late 1950s. In 1989, Hyster was taken over by NACCO Industries Ltd., and Hyster forklifts have been sold by Hyster Yale Materials Handling Inc. since 2012. Most Hyster forklifts for the European market are produced in France and Ireland. Heavy-duty lift trucks are produced in Norway, and warehouse equipment in Italy. Hyster forklifts are available in over 130 countries, and are distributed via contracting dealers.
